Activities that your child will experience...

Swimming
The Camp has a large outdoor heated pool ideal for cooling off, water games, swimming and special events (e.g. mini-Olympics and banana relays). The camp also is within a short walk to the Lumsden Beach Village's public beach. The camp has qualified supervision of all swimming activities.

Archery
Lumsden Beach Camp is equipped with several bows and an abundance of arrows. The counsellors are trained to teach the campers the safe enjoyment of archery.

Canoeing
The Camp has many large and very well equipped canoes. Campers of all ages enjoy learning canoe strokes and canoe rescue. These skills are used during the week as campers have the opportunity to travel on short canoe excursions.

Nature hikes
The camp has developed a self-guided nature trail that can be used by all the campers. The aim is to promote an appreciation and understanding of our natural environment through conservation, education and a healthy active life style. Some of the highlights along the trail include native tepee rings, an active beaver pond and the fantastic view of the Qu'Applle Valley.

Orienteering
The camp has three different orienteering courses designed to challenge any skill level. Mapp reading and use of compasses will be taught. Then the campers are challenged to put these skills to use. The outdoors is the setting, but the main tools are awareness, adventure and creativity.

Crafts
Campers are instructed in creative unique arts and crafts. A wide variety of crafts are available for all ages and interests. Some camp favourites include: friendship bracelets, tie dying, shrink art, and painted camp murals.

Campfire
Campfire is the time in the evening where all the campers, counsellors and staff come together to have a good time around the fire, through singing, skits, and stories. This is a favourite of campers.

Vespers
Vespers is an informal evening worship held every night at camp. The worship is usually held on the camp's vesper hill, which over looks Last Mountain Lake and the beautiful surroundings at camp. Everyone at camp is given an opportunity to participate in this worship time. This service is planned and carried out by campers and counsellors working together. The theme of the evening's vespers picks up on the theme of that day's Spiritual Care Time and other daily experiences.

Overnight Out Tripping
Each week campers are given the opportunity to go on an overnight out trip to one of the camps several campout sites. Campers cook over an open fire and sleep under the stars or in tents.

Spiritual Care Time (SCT)
Spiritual Care Time at Lumsden Beach Camp is so much more than 'Bible Study'. What better way to discover the delight of God's world than to share the stories in the safe communal environment found at camp. Camp experience can be the glue that holds the children in the Christian faith and friendships made at camp can last forever as children and youth discover their faith and make new friends.

Wide Games
Wide games are active games that involve the entire camp in challenging and cooperative excitement. Wide games often require teams to use strategy, organization and multiple skills to achieve the games objectives. Camp favourites include: Soul Searchers, Ultimate Frisbee, Predator and Prey, Hats, Gold Rush, Flags and Wiggles Wanted.

Special Events - Theme Days - Theme Meals - Beach Day
The entire camp is involved in special events and these have proved to be favourite activities for campers. · Talent shows, banana relays, carnivals, mini-olympics, gigantic treasure hunts are just a few of the theme day activities at camp where campers enjoy events and games prepared by the counsellors. · Theme meals include monk meals, singing meals, feed a friend meals, and pyjama breakfasts. These provide much opportunity for laughter and amusement. · On Beach Day the entire camp goes to the nearby Lumsden Beach Village beach. There they participate in games, swimming, crafts and enjoy refreshing watermelon.

Dance
For the older campers, in Intermediate I and II, there is a dance on one of the last nights of camp. There the campers have time to hang out with all the new friends and dance to their favourite music they have made in a unique atmosphere and enjoy delicious pizza.
