Minute for Mission
It’s early morning in the Qu’Appelle Valley. The sun is just starting to rise over the lake, and a group of campers are wrapped in hoodies, still waking up, sitting quietly on the hill for Vespers. For a moment, everything is still. No phones. No pressure. Just the sound of the wind through the trees and the quiet feeling of being exactly where you belong.
This is Lumsden Beach Camp.
Each summer, over 600 children and youth arrive at camp carrying more than just their bags. Some come excited, some nervous, some unsure of where they fit in the world. And within days, something shifts.
They make a friend.
They try something new.
They laugh harder than they have in months.
They begin to feel like themselves again.
Camp is more than canoeing, swimming, and campfire songs, it’s a place where confidence is built, where inclusion is lived, and where young people are reminded that they are valued, exactly as they are.
For many families, camp is also something they couldn’t access without support. Through community partnerships and your generosity, Lumsden Beach Camp works to reduce barriers so that more children, regardless of financial situation, can experience the joy and belonging that camp provides.
Behind every camper’s experience is a team of young leaders, our cabin leaders. Many are teenagers or young adults, giving their whole hearts to this work. They show up early, stay up late, support homesick campers, lead activities, solve problems, and create the magic that makes camp unforgettable.
It’s meaningful work, but it’s also demanding.
This is where you come in.
There are simple, tangible ways you can support Lumsden Beach Camp and the people who make it so special.

Help care for the spaces where community happens. Your support can provide updates, supplies, and improvements that ensure cabins remain safe, welcoming, and ready for generations of campers.

Cabin leaders give so much of themselves over the summer. You can support them by creating a small gift basket filled with snacks, self-care items, and an encouraging note. A simple message like “You are making a difference” or “You’ve got this, we’re cheering you on” can mean more than you know during a long, busy week at camp.

You can also support camp by volunteering at our Camp Clean Up on May 23 from 1–4 pm a hands-on way to give back and help prepare camp for the summer season.
These acts of care, whether big or small, help sustain the spirit of Lumsden Beach Camp.
Because camp changes lives.
It creates connection in a disconnected world.
It builds resilience in young people who need it most.
And it reminds all of us what it means to belong.
